Safety & Screening Process
To help ensure a stable and supportive group environment, all participants complete a brief screening process before joining.
This helps confirm that the group format is an appropriate fit and that participants understand the structure and expectations of peer-based support.
This is an administrative and safety-focused screening process. It is not a clinical assessment, and HHFFND does not determine a person’s diagnosis or treatment needs.
Eligibility Overview
Participants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Reside in Canada
- Identify as living with or navigating Functional Neurological Disorder
- Be comfortable participating in a structured, moderated peer setting
- Agree to group guidelines and confidentiality expectations
Important Considerations
Our support groups are best suited for individuals who are:
- Not currently in acute mental health crisis
- Not seeking clinical therapy or medical treatment
- Able to participate respectfully in a shared group environment
If someone needs crisis, clinical, or medical support beyond the role of a peer group, HHFFND may provide information about other services and invite them to return when the group is a more appropriate fit.
This process is intended to confirm that the group’s purpose, limits, and structure are a suitable match for each participant while supporting the wellbeing of the whole group.
