Canadian Adult Support Group
October 2026 Pilot Registration Is Closed
Our first Canadian Adult Support Group Pilot has reached capacity. Adults living with FND across Canada are welcome to join the waitlist for future groups. Please see the Join the Waitlist section below for details.
Healing Horizons for FND’s first Canadian Adult Support Group Pilot begins October 13, 2026. This eight-week virtual peer support program brings together adults aged 18 and older living with FND across Canada.
The pilot is the first phase of HHFFND’s structured peer support programming and is intentionally limited in size and scope to support stability, quality, and responsible growth.
The Canadian Adult Support Group pilot will operate as:
- A small, intentionally limited cohort of participants
- Adults aged 18+
- Canadian residents
- Hosted virtually
- Facilitated using a standardized session structure
- Delivered in a defined series format
Limiting group size supports balanced participation and consistent pacing.
Each session follows a consistent framework:
- Brief grounding and orientation
- Structured discussion prompt
- Moderated peer reflection
- Optional coping strategy focus
- Clear and intentional closing
Sessions are facilitated to maintain structure, emotional safety, and equitable participation.
Participation is voluntary. Listening is acceptable. Speaking is optional.
This pilot is appropriate for individuals who:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Reside in Canada
- Identify as living with or navigating Functional Neurological Disorder
- Feel able to take part in a structured peer group that does not provide crisis, medical, or clinical care
This program does not provide therapy, medical treatment, or crisis intervention services.
Participants requiring urgent or clinical care may be referred to appropriate services.
To support group stability and ensure the program is an appropriate fit, prospective participants complete:
- A brief intake form
- A participation agreement
- A brief review to confirm that the group’s purpose, limits, and structure are a suitable match
Placement in a future group is subject to availability and an individual review of eligibility and suitability. HHFFND will contact applicants when future group opportunities become available.
Sessions are not recorded.
Participants agree not to record, screenshot, or distribute group content. This policy supports confidentiality and psychological safety.
As a pilot initiative, this program allows HHFFND to:
- Evaluate participant experience
- Assess structural effectiveness
- Refine facilitation protocols
- Ensure responsible program expansion
Additional peer support groups will be introduced gradually as organizational capacity grows.
Although registration for our October 2026 pilot is closed, we continue to welcome interest from adults living with FND across Canada.
To be considered for a future group, please review the Participation Agreement and complete the existing intake form.
Your information will be retained in accordance with HHFFND’s privacy and records retention practices. We will contact individuals on the waitlist when future group opportunities become available.
Please note that joining the waitlist does not guarantee placement in a future group.
