August 2026 – A summer check-in, a special milestone, and a look toward fall.
A Summer Hello
Summer can look a little different when you live with Functional Neurological Disorder.
Things that once felt simple, like going to a busy store, attending an event, traveling, or spending a day out with family, may now require planning, breaks, adaptations, or recovery time.
But progress doesn’t have to be dramatic to matter.
Sometimes progress is simply doing a little more than you could before, learning what helps your nervous system, or finding a new way to participate in something you thought FND had taken away.
A Special Milestone 💙
We have some exciting news to share!
Our founder and Executive Director, Kim Lameront, has been named a 2026 WESK Entrepreneur of the Year Honouree in the Changemakers & Trailblazers category.
Healing Horizons for FND began after Kim’s own diagnosis and her experience trying to find clear information, practical resources, and meaningful support.
This recognition is an incredible honour, but it also represents something bigger: growing awareness of FND and the need for better support for the people and families affected by it.
Your World Can Grow Again
FND can make life feel smaller.
Maybe you’ve stopped going somewhere because of noise or crowds. Maybe an activity you once loved feels impossible right now. Maybe you can still participate, but you need breaks, support, or a different approach.
Those adaptations don’t make your progress less meaningful.
A difficult day doesn’t erase the good ones, and needing to rest doesn’t mean you’ve gone backwards.
Small steps count. Adaptations count. Rest counts. Trying again counts.
There is no deadline for recovery and no single definition of progress.
Looking Toward Fall 🍂
Healing Horizons for FND has intentionally taken a quieter pace this summer, but we have plenty of ideas waiting for fall.
We’ll be returning our attention to community support, new resources, outreach, and the continued development of our Saskatchewan initiatives.
We’re excited about what’s ahead, and we’ll share more as things begin taking shape.
Thank you for being part of the Healing Horizons community. 💙
