Why We Exist

Healing Horizons for FND exists because people living with Functional Neurological Disorder deserve calm, accessible, and truly supportive care.

The Reality for People Living With FND

Functional Neurological Disorder is more common than many people realize, yet individuals and families often struggle to find support that feels safe, clear, and manageable. After diagnosis, many people experience confusion about symptoms, inconsistent information, long wait times, and limited guidance on how to cope in daily life. Support spaces can feel overwhelming, fast-paced, or emotionally intense, which can worsen symptoms instead of helping regulate them.

The Gap We Saw

Healing Horizons was created to address the space between medical care and everyday life with FND.

We saw a clear lack of resources that were:

  • calm and low pressure
  • designed with the nervous system in mind
  • age-appropriate across the lifespan
  • supportive of caregivers and families
  • accessible to educators and professionals
  • focused on pacing, not performance

Why Healing Horizons Is Different

Healing Horizons exists to provide support that does not rush, overwhelm, or demand more than someone can give. Everything we build is grounded in lived experience and designed to feel predictable, gentle, and safe. Participation is always optional. Rest is encouraged. Pressure is never part of the model.

Who This Page Is For

This nonprofit exists for:

  • children, teens, young adults, adults, and seniors living with FND
  • parents, caregivers, and family members
  • educators and school teams
  • healthcare and community professionals
  • anyone seeking clearer, calmer understanding of FND

Why This Matters
