Our Commitment
Healing Horizons for FND (HHFFND) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of all participants, volunteers, families, and partners.
This page provides a plain-language overview of how information is collected, used, and protected. More detailed internal procedures are provided to volunteers, Board members, and approved partners as part of their onboarding and governance responsibilities.
We collect only the information necessary to operate our programs safely and responsibly. This may include information needed to:
- register participants for programs
- communicate about upcoming sessions or changes
- ensure age-appropriate participation
- support safeguarding and program integrity
- respond to questions or requests
- improve our programs and services

- age category (not exact date of birth)
- province or region
- communication preferences
- optional information shared voluntarily
We do not collect information that is not directly related to our programs or operations.
We do not request or require:
- medical records
- diagnostic documentation
- detailed health histories
- financial or banking information
- government identification
- exact home addresses (unless voluntarily shared for specific safety planning at the participant’s request)
HHFFND does not sell, trade, or commercialize personal information.
Information is used only for purposes directly related to HHFFND’s programs and operations, including:
- providing access to programs and resources
- sending reminders or program-related communications
- matching participants to appropriate age groups
- supporting safeguarding and appropriate supervision
- sharing relevant organizational updates or resources
Information is not used for marketing unrelated to HHFFND’s mission.
Confidentiality is a core value of HHFFND’s support spaces.
- What participants choose to share is treated as private
- Hosts and participants are expected to respect group confidentiality
- Participation is voluntary, and no one is required to speak or disclose personal information
- Sensitive topics are approached gently and with respect
- Cameras are optional in all groups
If a participant expresses statements that indicate immediate risk, hosts follow internal safety and escalation protocols.

HHFFND uses reasonable and appropriate safeguards to protect information, including:
- secure communication platforms
- password-protected systems
- limited access to information based on role
- confidentiality agreements for hosts, volunteers, and Board members
Information is not shared with third parties unless required by law or explicitly requested by the participant.
For children and teens, HHFFND balances privacy with safety.
- Parents or guardians may request information about program structure and safety practices
- Youth privacy is respected while ensuring appropriate supervision
- Two-adult facilitation standards apply to youth programs
- HHFFND does not engage in private one-to-one messaging with minors without parental awareness
Youth safety and wellbeing are always the priority.
You have the right to:
- request access to information we hold about you
- request correction or removal of your information
- withdraw from programs at any time
- ask questions about how your information is handled
