Accessibility Statement

Effective date: December 2025

Healing Horizons for FND is a community-led nonprofit created by and for people living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and related access needs. Accessibility is a core value that guides how we design our website, resources, and online programs.

We recognize that accessibility is not a single standard but an ongoing commitment to listening, learning, and adapting.

We strive to make our website and digital materials as accessible as reasonably possible for people who may experience fatigue, cognitive overload, sensory sensitivity, mobility challenges, or neurodivergent processing.

Accessibility is an ongoing process. As a developing organization, we continuously review and improve our practices in line with community feedback and available capacity.

We work toward accessible design practices, including:

  • clear page structure and logical headings
  • readable fonts and appropriate text sizing
  • sufficient colour contrast
  • reduced visual clutter and overstimulation
  • compatibility with keyboard navigation where feasible

We aim to follow the spirit of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), recognizing that we may not meet every technical standard in all areas at all times.

We design content with the cognitive and sensory needs of people with FND in mind. Where possible, we:

  • use clear, plain language
  • break information into manageable sections
  • avoid unnecessary complexity
  • clearly indicate when participation or actions are optional

Our online programs and support spaces are designed to be low-pressure and flexible. Depending on the program, options may include:

  • camera-off participation
  • listening-only participation
  • predictable session formats
  • flexibility to join late or leave early

Specific accommodations may vary by program and facilitator capacity.

As a growing nonprofit with limited resources, there may be practical limitations to what we can implement at any given time. We are committed to making thoughtful, sustainable improvements rather than rushed or tokenistic changes.

We regularly review our practices and prioritize updates based on community feedback, safety considerations, and organizational capacity.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website or in one of our programs, we welcome your feedback.

You may contact us by email:

While we may not be able to implement every request immediately, all feedback is reviewed carefully and informs future improvements.
