Accessibility & Inclusion Policy
Healing Horizons for FND is committed to creating calm, supportive, and accessible spaces for people of all ages, abilities, identities, and lived experiences. Accessibility and inclusion guide how we design our programs, resources, and digital spaces.
Accessibility is not an add-on, it is embedded in our work from the outset.
This includes sensory accessibility, communication accessibility, pacing, cognitive load reduction, and emotional safety.
We approach inclusion with respect, humility, and an understanding that access needs can be diverse, changing, and deeply personal.
We design all programs with the understanding that symptoms and sensory needs can vary from day to day.
Our approach includes:
- soft, low-stimulation communication
- optional cameras and microphones
- slow pacing with built-in breaks
- gentle facilitation with no pressure to speak
- accessible posters and coping menus
We use plain language and predictable structure so information is easier to process for people with variable energy, cognitive load, or neurodivergent processing styles.
Where possible, we present information in manageable sections and avoid unnecessary complexity.
Our website is designed with accessibility in mind and includes:
- dyslexia-friendly mode
- high-contrast mode
- mobile-friendly design
- clear headings and predictable navigation
We continue to review and improve digital accessibility as our capacity grows.
Healing Horizons for FND welcomes individuals and families of all backgrounds, identities, cultures, and abilities.
We strive to reflect and respect the diversity of people living with FND across Canada, recognizing that inclusion is an ongoing practice.
We work to create emotionally safe environments where people can participate at their own pace, without pressure, judgment, or unrealistic expectations.
Respect, dignity, and consent are foundational to all of our programs and interactions.
We welcome suggestions that help us improve accessibility and inclusion.
If you encounter a barrier or require additional supports, please reach out:

While we may not be able to implement every request immediately, all feedback is reviewed carefully and informs future improvements.
Accessibility Commitment
