How We Make Decisions

Healing Horizons for FND makes decisions with care, clarity, and accountability. Our approach reflects our values, respects lived experience, and prioritizes safety, accessibility, and long-term sustainability.

We believe transparent and thoughtful decision-making strengthens trust with participants, caregivers, partners, funders, and the broader community we serve.

Our decision-making is shaped by a clear set of principles that keep HHFFND grounded and responsible. These include:

  • Trauma-informed and accessibility-first practice
  • Respect for fluctuating capacity and lived experience
  • Ethical boundaries and harm reduction
  • Clarity over urgency
  • Long-term sustainability over rapid growth

These principles guide both everyday choices and major organizational decisions.

Healing Horizons for FND is a founder-led organization with a formal governance structure.

Day-to-day decisions are made by organizational leadership in alignment with HHFFND’s mission, policies, and ethical commitments. Leadership considers both immediate needs and long-term impact when determining direction and action.

Where appropriate, leadership seeks input from advisors, collaborators, and people with lived experience. Advisory input informs reflection and learning but does not replace governance or decision-making authority.

Feedback and input are considered thoughtfully, proportionally, and in context. Not all suggestions result in immediate change, and this is intentional.

When reviewing input, we consider:

  • Alignment with HHFFND’s values and scope
  • Potential risks, benefits, and unintended impacts
  • Safety, accessibility, and capacity implications
  • Feasibility and sustainability over time

This approach ensures that any changes are deliberate, responsible, and in the best interest of the community.

Healing Horizons for FND maintains clear boundaries around its role and responsibilities.

  • We do not provide medical diagnosis or treatment.
  • We do not replace clinical care or emergency services.
  • We do not promise outcomes beyond our scope.

These boundaries protect participants, partners, and the organization while supporting ethical and responsible practice.
